The people behind TopPulse's monthly rankings
Editor-in-Chief
London, UK
Nadia leads the editorial vision at TopPulse and owns the monthly ranking cycle end to end, from the data cut-off each month through the editorial review that decides where every platform lands. She began at Bloomberg Markets covering fixed-income products and the plumbing of European credit, which taught her to read a loan book rather than a press release, then moved to Finimize, where she built the alternative investments vertical from scratch and saw how retail investors actually make decisions and how easily they are misled. That dual background in financial journalism and fintech product strategy shapes how she runs the site: methodology first, marketing claims last. She sets the five criteria behind every issue, arbitrates the borderline cases where a platform could rise or fall, and signs off on the cautionary calls that withhold a ranking when a regulator alert or investigation is live. If a claim cannot be sourced, it does not run. Nadia holds an MSc in Financial Economics from the London School of Economics.

Tobias brings quantitative rigour to every TopPulse assessment. He spent eight years in Deutsche Bank research modelling credit risk, then joined Zopa analytics, where he built internal yield-tracking frameworks for the lending book and learned where headline return figures quietly diverge from what an investor actually keeps. At TopPulse he designs the position methodology, maintains the statistical models behind platform comparisons, and stress-tests the numbers a platform reports against what its published statistics can support. He is the person who asks whether an advertised target rate survives contact with defaults, currency drag and cash drag, and who flags when a track record is too short to mean anything yet. His analysis feeds directly into where a platform sits each month and into the notes that explain why it moved. Tobias studied Mathematics and Economics at Humboldt University of Berlin and is a CFA charterholder.

Clara runs the platform due-diligence programme at TopPulse and is the reason a platform reaches the ranking only after its regulatory standing has been verified rather than assumed. She sharpened her research at Morningstar analysing European fund structures, then moved to DEGIRO to work on regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, where she learned how differently the same rules are applied from one national authority to the next. At TopPulse she tracks the evolving EU crowdfunding regime, reads the registers of the Bank of Lithuania, Latvijas Banka, the CNMV and Consob directly rather than relying on a platform's own summary, and coordinates the checks that decide whether a licence is what it claims to be. When a platform's regulatory picture changes, she is usually the first to catch it. Clara holds a Master's in European Law from the University of Lisbon and works across four languages.

Henrik architects the data infrastructure behind TopPulse's rankings and comparison tools. At Klarna he built real-time credit-scoring pipelines processing millions of transactions a day, and before that he worked in Nordea data engineering on risk-modelling systems, so he knows both how lending data is generated and how it goes wrong. At TopPulse he maintains the automated collection from platform statistics pages and APIs, guards data integrity, and builds the checks that catch a platform quietly restating its numbers between months. He designs how raw performance metrics become the comparable figures readers see, and he is the reason a suspicious jump in a reported figure gets investigated rather than published. His work keeps the monthly cycle honest and reproducible. Henrik studied Computer Science at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Isabelle shapes the educational content strategy at TopPulse, turning complex lending mechanics into something an ordinary investor can act on without being talked down to. She spent six years as a financial journalist at Les Echos covering asset management and retail banking, then led investor-education initiatives across French-speaking markets at BNP Paribas Asset Management, where she learned how to explain risk without either burying it or sensationalising it. At TopPulse she owns the guides, sets the house standard for how yields, defaults and provision funds are described, and makes sure the capital-at-risk message is never an afterthought. She is a firm advocate for financial literacy as a form of consumer protection, and she pushes back whenever a draft makes an unregulated product sound safer than it is. Isabelle graduated from Sciences Po Paris in Economics and Finance.

Market Correspondent

Matteo covers Southern European crowdlending for TopPulse, with granular analysis of platforms operating in Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece. He reported on fintech and alternative finance at Il Sole 24 Ore, Italy's leading financial daily, then joined the Moneyfarm research team, gaining hands-on experience with retail investment and robo-advisory products. That mix of newsroom and buy-side work gives him an eye for the gap between how a platform markets itself locally and how it actually operates. At TopPulse he maintains the country context behind the market pages, reads local-language filings and regulator communications first-hand, and helps readers navigate Mediterranean markets where regulation and platform quality are still moving fast. He is often the first to notice when a regional platform's story stops adding up. Matteo holds a degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan.

Reviews Editor
Manchester, UK
Emma manages the platform review programme at TopPulse and owns the methodology that keeps every review comprehensive, comparable and fair. She spent five years at Which?, the UK's largest consumer advocacy organisation, testing and reviewing financial products against a fixed rubric, then moved to Hargreaves Lansdown to work on client-facing research and platform comparison tools. She brings the consumer-testing discipline of both to crowdlending: the same questions asked of every platform, the same evidence required before a claim stands, and no allowance for a good story in place of a track record. At TopPulse she structures each review, checks that the verdict matches the evidence in the body, and makes sure the sources block cites primary documents rather than the platform's own marketing. Emma studied Journalism at the University of Sheffield.

Risk Analyst
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Jan is TopPulse's risk analyst and the internal sceptic every platform assessment has to pass. He spent years in credit risk at ABN AMRO before moving to Funding Circle, where he saw a large peer-to-peer loan book through a full cycle, including the part where borrowers stop paying and recovery becomes real work rather than a footnote. That experience makes him hard to impress with a clean-looking dashboard: he focuses on default and recovery history, the quality of a buyback or provision-fund promise, and what actually happens to investor money when a platform or an originator fails. At TopPulse he pressure-tests each platform's downside, writes the risk sections of reviews, and is usually the voice arguing to withhold a ranking when the evidence is thin. Jan studied finance in the Netherlands and has spent his career on the lending side of the table.

Community Editor

Katarina is TopPulse's community editor and the link between what readers experience and what the rankings say. She worked in customer and community roles at N26 and Wefox, where she handled the questions and complaints that surface long before they reach a regulator, and learned to tell a genuine platform problem from an isolated grievance. At TopPulse she monitors investor forums, platform status pages and reader reports for early signals such as slow withdrawals, changed terms or support going quiet, and feeds verified patterns into the review and ranking process. She also curates the reader reviews on the site and keeps them honest, filtering out both astroturfed praise and unfounded attacks. Her work is often the first warning that a platform's on-the-ground reality has diverged from its official story. Katarina studied communications and has spent her career in fintech.
